I am a film and media scholar, historian, and cultural critic.

I hold a Master of Arts from American University’s Literature, Culture, and Technology program.

My research and writing maps the cultural, technological, historical, and political contexts that make movies matter. In an increasingly convergent mediascape, when popular and critical discourse dismisses visual media as “content,” my cross-disciplinary scholarship draws attention to the ways that individual films, exhibition technologies, and industry practices shape our shared culture.

Before graduate school, I ran operations for startups like UrbanStems and OurStreets in Washington, DC and New York City. See my bio or CV for specifics.

Say hey! I’m @ptklein on most major social networks and paul(at)ptklein(dot)com.
